Dunlop Congratulates 2010 SX Champions

Buffalo, NY: Dunlop Motorcycle Tires proudly extends its congratulations to the Supercross and Supercross Lites champions for 2010: Supercross Champion Ryan Dungey (Rockstar Makita Suzuki), Supercross Lites West Champion Jake Weimer (Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki), and Supercross Lites East Champion Christophe Pourcel (Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki). The 2010 season began with plenty of fanfare and excitement—as expected. But the men who would make their mark on the season began their run early on and never let up.

All three riders accomplished these feats and more on their way to earning a championship while riding on Dunlop tires—this in a year that saw Dunlop step up its commitment to Supercross racing to support the paddock like no other company. Although there have been five brands of tires in the SX paddock, if you measure performance by trips to the podium, Dunlop has far and away outperformed all other tires in 2010.

• When combining all 34 main events at the 17 rounds of Supercross and Lites races, Dunlop riders comprised an astounding 95.8 percent of the field.
• Dunlop fitment reached 100 percent in 14 main events this year.
• Dunlop riders filled all three spots on every Supercross and Lites podium all season long.
• Dunlop riders filled all top-ten spots in every main event except three Lites races where Dunlop riders finished in nine out of the top 10 positions.

“Dunlop really had to step up to accommodate our broad-reaching fitment in Supercross racing this year,” said Broc Glover, Dunlop Senior Manager, Motorcycle Off-Road. “We are committed to supporting our sport despite some really challenging market conditions and it certainly showed in our results this season. I want to thank all of our engineers, tire fitters and support staff, and all the teams, for their hard work as we now gear up for the 2010 Motocross season.”
