Asterisk Medical Crew Ready to Provide Trackside Medical Support at 2011 Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (May 5, 2011) - The anticipation continues to build for the start of the 2011 Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship and as the world's best riders prepare to take to the track for 12 weeks this summer, the Asterisk Mobile Medical Center (AMMC) will be on hand to provide a modern onsite emergency and general medical treatment center, staffed by the most experienced healthcare providers.
As the premier medical support crew in the sport of motocross for many years, the group of special individuals that compose the Asterisk Mobile Medical Center has become the unsung heroes of American Motocross. Led by Asterisk's Tom Carson and supported by John "Doc" Bodnar and Eddie Casillas, along with the entire AMMC, this team puts its heart and soul into protecting the safety of the riders. Over the years, considerable research has gone into making the mobile center as state-of-the-art as possible so that the athletes can receive the best treatment.
"Asterisk is a part of the foundation of not just the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship, but the sport as a whole," said MX Sports Vice President Davey Coombs. "Doc and his staff have dedicated their service to the riders simply out of love for the sport. Words cannot express how privileged American Motocross is to have them on board."
The AMMC will be onsite beginning at the opening round in Hangtown on Saturday, May 21, just mere feet away from the starting gate. Additionally, the AMMC will provide active service around the track throughout all sessions of the day whether it be practice, qualifying or during the motos. Several custom-built Kawasaki utility vehicles will provide transportation for a rider if needed while also containing all pertinent supplies.
The entire motocross industry, including riders and series organizers, regularly show their appreciation for the AMMC through donations. The unit's initiative is arguably the most invaluable element of the entire sport and motocross wouldn't be the same without the commitment of these individuals.
