KENNESAW, GA. (June 6, 2016) – Team MicroBilt/PRBC Suzuki’s Ronnie Stewart made his return to action Saturday in round three of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship at the Thunder Valley National in Lakewood, CO. He managed to move up through the field in both 450 motos to score a 24th overall finish.

It marked Stewart’s return to the outdoor nationals after suffering injuries in the opening round at Hangtown last month.

Still finding his rhythm after being sidelined for several weeks, Stewart struggled in qualifying before gradually building back his speed.

“I made it interesting having to go through the LCQ,” Stewart said, referring to the Consolation Race where only the top four make it through to the national. “I made some goofy mistakes on the last lap, which almost cost me a transfer position.”

In spite of the scare, Stewart was able to rally and find good pace in both motos at Thunder Valley to make his way through the field on his MicroBilt/PRBC Suzuki RM-Z450 from 40th gate pick. He moved up 14 positions in each race to finish 26th in both motos, earning him 24th overall in the final results.

“I was able to finish both motos and establish some ground for me to build on,” Stewart explained.

“Some of my weaknesses I was able to work on and figure out and that was great. I had a lot of fun with the track. It was prepped a lot better than last year. It was definitely rough, but not dangerously so.”

The only major difficulty Stewart experienced on the day in Colorado was his hands badly blistering from lack of riding time. He also enjoyed meeting with fans at Thunder Valley.

“It was really neat to find that there are fans in this part of the country who follow me on a regular basis,” Stewart said. “The presence of Team MicroBilt/PRBC and the effort that everyone is putting in is something I’m very proud of.”

The 2016 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship will observe its first break of the 2016 season next weekend before returning to action on Saturday, June 18, for the Red Bull High Point National from High Point Raceway in Mt. Morris, PA. The race will mark the 2016 network television premiere on NBC.

Stewart concluded by saying, “I’m looking forward during this time off, to continue working and be ready to come out strong for the rest of the season.”
