Payson, UT (Jan. 9) -  As the gate dropped for the 2017 Monster Energy Supercross season at Anaheim Stadium, Team Rocky Mountain ATV/MC-KTM-WPS took to the track this past Saturday night for an incredible night of racing at Anaheim 1. Team rider Davi Millsaps rode to a 7th place finish while teammate Blake Baggett rebounded from a early race crash to finish 14th.

Rider Reports

Blake Baggett started his day solid, posting the 6th fastest overall qualifying time during the afternoon.  Under the lights, he was all business during his heat race. Thanks to his good gate pick, Baggett used the exceptional traction of his Dunlop tires to quickly jump out in front of the field at the start and grab the holeshot. Matching the pace of leader Eli Tomac for the whole race, Baggett held on to finish second and transfer straight to the main event.  In the main, he once again put himself in a good position at the start, rounding the first turn in third place.  Blake was charging to the front until going down in the tricky whoop section early on. He remounted and put on a charge from the back of the field to finish in the 14th position.

"I felt fast out there" said Baggett. "It's unfortunate that I went down, because I had the speed to battle up front.  We are looking forward to next weekend in San Diego and a better finish."
Davi Millsaps found his way to the main event through a hard charging ride in his semi.  After battling for the top spot early on, Millsaps dropped back four spots due to being pinched in a corner. He immediately took the spots back a few laps later, finishing second and securing a spot on the gate for the main event.  Davi continued his charge into the main event, as he grabbed a handful of FMF power and at full throttle rounded the first corner inside the top 5.  He rode solid, hitting his lines every lap and holding off the competition to take the checkered flag in 7th place.

"I had a good start in the main" said Millsaps. "I am happy to leave here without any injuries and ready to improve upon my ride here tonight and battle inside the top 5 next weekend in San Diego."
