Every entrant at ANAC punched their ticket to the finals, and a shot at an AMA National Championship, by competing in a minimum of one Sunday Amateur Day throughout the 12-round AMSOIL Arenacross season. Riders qualified for ANAC by accumulating points in one of five amateur regions - Central, Midwest, East, South, and West. This year amateur athletes also had the option to obtain points by competing in one of four Supercross Amateur Racing events in Anaheim, Glendale, Tampa, and Atlanta.
The ANAC weekend got off to an unofficial start on Friday in front of the Las Vegas crowd when the Ultracross 50cc (4-8) division and AMSOIL Dominator Supermini class raced during the AMSOIL Arenacross Finals. Mikah Carpenter took his first national title in Ultracross 50cc riding an Elite Cobra, while Jeremy Ryan and his Team Green Kawasaki kicked off a dominant weekend filled with multiple titles by grabbing the AMSOIL Dominator Supermini victory. With the win, Jeremy Ryan locked in a spot in the Supermini class at October's Monster Energy Cup from Las Vegas' Sam Boyd Stadium where he will be joined by fellow Dominator Supermini podium finishers Talon Hawkins and Devin Slusher.
The remainder of the ANAC divisions and its hundreds of qualified riders returned on Sunday ready to do battle on the challenging layout inside Orleans Arena. Heat Races started off the full day of racing followed by the Main Events that would ultimately crown each division champion.
The on-track action was exceptionally competitive with the most talented amateur athletes in the country putting on a show each and every time the gate dropped. Mikah Carpenter and Jeremy Ryan emerged from the day with the most hardware of any other rider at ANAC, capturing three AMA National Championships each. In addition to the AMSOIL Dominator Supermini victory, Ryan took the win in Supermini 1 and Supermini 2. With the Ultracross 50cc title already in hand, Carpenter added another championship in 50cc (4-8) and 50cc (7-8).
Three more invitations were passed out in the Amateur All-Star class with Preston Taylor capturing the win, Johnny Garcia finishing second and Eugene Christian taking the third place finish. These riders will be returning to Las Vegas for the Monster Energy Cup October 13 at Sam Boyd Stadium.
