Payson, UT (May 23, 2017)  – The gate dropped on the opening round of the 2017 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship series at Northern California’s Hangtown MX outdoor national this past weekend. Team Rocky Mountain ATV/MC-KTM-WPS riders Blake Baggett and Dakota Alix tackled the heat and rough track, putting in two solid motos to start the outdoor season off strong.

As one of the favorites in the series, Blake Baggett showed that he is ready to battle at the front all summer. He came out in morning practice on the gas, posting the 7th fastest time of the day. Blake launched out of the gate in moto one and put himself in prime position inside the top ten. He started a charge through the field by mid race, slicing his way up to 6th place by the end of the moto.
Moto two didn’t start easy for Blake, as he rounded the first turn outside the top twenty. As the temperature soared over 90 degrees, Engine Ice kept his KTM 450 SX-F from overheating as Blake charged his way through the field once again. He found himself fiercely battling for positions, working his way to 8th place at the finish. His 6-8 moto score earned him 6th place overall for the day.
“I felt good out there today,” said Blake. “I didn’t get the starts I needed today to battle up front, but my endurance is there. We will regroup and come back stronger next weekend at Glen Helen.”
Dakota Alix: 16th Place Overall (450 Class)

Dakota Alix, who’s filling in for team rider Davi Millsaps, used the power of his FMF Racing exhaust to launch out of the gate inside the top twenty in his first pro 450MX race. Alix looked solid out there on the rough track, battling his way to 15th place where he finished.
Another solid start to moto two had Alix once again inside the top twenty. The chopped up track didn’t phase Alix, as he once again found himself working his way forward. While he worked his way once again up to 15th , he dropped back a few spots late in the race to finish 17th at the checkered flag.
“It was a positive day,” Alix said of his ride. “I felt confident out there and know I can run the pace. We will go back, make a few changes and come out stronger at Glen Helen.”
Team Rocky Mountain ATV/MC-KTM-WPS now travels to the Southern California track of Glen Helen for round two of the 2017 Pro Motocross Outdoor Championship.
