RiderDown Blood Drive In Memory of Fallen Riders

EVERGREEN, CO (April 30, 2010) - This summer, the RiderDown Foundation is out for blood....your blood.   We’re asking for your help with the RiderDown Blood Drive In Memory of Fallen Riders.  Please spread the word and bring a friend.  We all know how important it is to have an adequate supply of blood on hand when it’s needed.  

The RiderDown Foundation, whose mission is to help injured off-road riders is sponsoring a nationwide, week long blood drive.   The dates for this first annual blood drive are June 7-11, 2010.  People wishing to donate blood in the memory of their fallen friends and fellow riders can find their local blood center by visiting RiderDown’s website at www.riderdown.org and look for the thread “RDF Blood Drive in Memory of Fallen Riders - HELP!”   We encourage anyone who rides, has children or friends that ride to take a few minutes out of their week to stop at their local blood center to give blood.   You never know, the blood you give may save the life of a friend or loved one!

RiderDown Foundation is teaming with the BlueRibbon Coalition at the Dealer Expo in Indy.

INDIANAPOLIS, IN (February 11, 2009) - This weekend, the RiderDown Foundation is teaming with the BlueRibbon Coalition at the Dealer Expo in Indy.

The RiderDown Foundation (RDF) has procured two vintage, metal signs which were inspired by Bruce Brown and the classic movie, “On Any Sunday”. The signs are framed in a white mat and will be displayed at the BlueRibbon Coalition (BRC) Booth on Saturday to gather autographs from a number of moto-heros. Saturday night, the pictures will travel to the Trail Rider Magazine/Wicked Motorsports party with Gonzo rider, Charlie Williams, for more signatures. Sunday it’s back to the show for more autographs. RDF hopes that Malcolm and others from On Any Sunday will be there to sign the actual metal signs, while other luminaries will autograph the outside mat border; creating what will truly become a collector’s piece. Every person who autographs the artwork will be carefully recorded (these champions know all about going fast, but signatures are often hard to read).

“We will have trouble parting with these,” stated Bruce Vermeulen of the RDF “but for the good of our causes we will forgo the temptation to sneak them onto our office wall. We are planning to auction both pieces off later to benefit both RiderDown.org and the BlueRibbon Coalition. So if you are approached at the dealer show to sign some metal signs with Bruce Brown’s name on them, be proud you made the cut and sign for the good of the sport!”

RiderDown Foundation at Loretta Lynn’s – The Passion Tour Rolls On!

RiderDown is pleased to announce that once again you will have a chance to help your fellow riders when they need it most and also have a chance to get something back in return. Stop by the RDF booth and get your raffle tickets, place your bids, row a few meters or simply make a donation to the cause. Several years ago RacerX and RiderDown teamed up to bring you the Passion Tour and Loretta’s is one of the premiere stops on the schedule.

This year we’ll be raffling off a custom Loretta Lynn’s ’09 edition helmet, designed and painted by HotHedzDesigns, a pair of Asterisk children’s Germ knee braces, a Leatt Sport neck brace, an RXR chest protector and more! All proceeds from the raffle will go directly to the RiderDown Foundation in support of its efforts to assist injured riders and their families. Raffle tickets are only $2 and will be available throughout the week. The drawing will be held Thursday. Stop by the RDF booth for more details!

Want to get in better shape? Check this out – Concept2 Indoor Rowers has donated a brand new Model D rower to RiderDown and we will be holding a silent auction for this machine to raise money for our injured riders in need. Bids will be taken at the RDF booth or you can bid via email to info@riderdown.org (make sure to mention the rower in the subject line). And if you’re feeling it, for the 3rd year in a row the guys at Concept2 and RacerX Virtual Trainer will be giving away rowers to the winners of the 500M challenge! There will be a men’s and a women’s division and the competition will be tough! Last year the head to head row off in the ladies class was tight!

Also, keep an eye out for our friend David Bulmer,that crazy media guy from across the pond. He’s been travelling to all of the Outdoor Nationals with some of the crew from VurbMoto and running a lap at each track to raise money for charity. RiderDown Foundation and Wings for Life are fortunate to have his generous support! Give him a cheer!

IF YOU'RE A RIDER - come on out, bring a passenger, go on our 85 mile Poker Run, then join us for the cookout, music and hang out with the folks from Rawhide Rescue and some of their rescue dogs. (Sign-in 9-11AM - $20 rider / $15 passenger, almost all of which goes to Rawhide Rescue)

IF YOU'RE NOT A RIDER - come join us for the cookout music and hang out with the folks from Rawhide Rescue and some of their rescue dogs. (Cooking starts at 12:30pm, but you could come earlier for coffee and danish - $15 per person, almost all of which goes to Rawhide Rescue)
