David Bailey and Jeff Emig Highlight 2010 Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship Broadcast Team

MORGANTOWN, W.V. (May 14, 2010) - When race fans tune in to SPEED and NBC's coverage of the 2010 Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship, they are going to hear some familiar voices. Former AMA Motocross and Supercross champion David Bailey returns to the booth as color commentator, splitting races with another multi-time champion, Jeff Emig. The two Hall of Fame riders will join host Jason Weigandt and sideline reporter Erin Bates to provide comprehensive television coverage of the 12 rounds that determine the best racers in motocross.
The action starts Saturday, May 22, with the Rockstar Energy Hangtown Classic in Sacramento, Calif., which will air on SPEED the very next day, with two full hours of coverage beginning at 5 p.m. ET. Each of the following rounds will air live on NBC or SPEED or enjoy same-day coverage (450 Class) and next-day coverage (250 Class) on SPEED.
"The anticipation of who will shine in AMA Motocross is always exciting, and this year it's no different," says veteran broadcaster Bailey. "I think the talent is deeper than it has been in a long time."
"I can't wait for Hangtown," adds Emig, who just wrapped up providing color commentary on SPEED's coverage of AMA Supercross. "There is a tremendous amount of excitement for the opening round. This is a contract year for many of the riders, so you know there won't be any sandbaggers this summer. It's go-time for everyone!"
Both Bailey and Emig have spent their entire lives around motocross, first as top racers and now as television analysts. After traveling the circuit for more than a decade, Bailey took a long hiatus from the TV booth but returned last year for the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross tour.
"The improvement of the facilities has been amazing," Bailey says. "From the upgrades to the tracks, combined with the attention to detail at each event site, the presentation is impressive. I also like how proactive MX Sports is in organizing everything. Problems don't linger and better ideas are always being considered."
"I attended my first AMA Motocross race way back in the '70s at Agency, Mo.," recalls Emig, a former Yamaha and Kawasaki factory rider. "So much has changed since then, especially how professional the events are. Every form of racing has a charted growth and trajectory that it must maintain to continue, and I'm happy that the AMA Motocross promoters are making the necessary improvements to keep the racers and the fans happy."
Riding for Team Honda, Bailey was a winning force on the AMA circuit in the 1980s before turning his attention to television, just as the sport was starting to finally see some regular coverage.
"When motocross was first on TV, I used to do the voiceovers with Art Eckman in post-production-for airing the following weekend," he explains. "Now half the series is live! You can flip back and forth from NASCAR or any other major league sport and there's no difference in quality, but the there's a big difference in excitement. Motocross is such a unique sport, and the new TV crew did a fantastic job capturing it last summer. With a year under their belts, this season will be even sharper."
"If people could only see what happens behind the scenes with the TV crew, they would know that to do an AMA Motocross race live on TV or the internet is a very big job," adds Emig, a four-time AMA Champion from the 1990s. "We have a kick-ass crew in the truck and some very dedicated cameramen out in the dirt. With everyone on the production crew's dedication, we get to see Lucas Oil AMA Motocross live, so it's all worth it."
As for his expectations for racing action this summer, beginning with the 42nd Annual Rockstar Energy Hangtown Classic, Emig thinks it will be..."Mind-blowing! Both classes have a tremendous amount of returning talent, plus some gifted newcomers. It's a recipe for success in my book. It's going to be a fantastic summer of motocross racing."

Magoo Van Fund Exceeds Goals

March, 12, 2010 – (Motor Sports Newswire) – On Friday, March 5th, Brad and Lori Lackey received an e-mail from recently inducted AMA Hall Of Famer Geoff Fox saying that he, along with his brother Bob, would fund the remaining $15,000 needed for a very special project. to reach $100,000 challenge to the industry Last November, Bob “Hurricane” Hannah issued a $100,000 challenge to the industry to fund a special needs van for injured motocross legend Danny “Magoo” Chandler. But even before the news that the donation from the Fox clan had pushed the project to its goal had sunk in, David Bailey and Russ Koza from RIDERS F1RST and ONE Industries added an additional $10,000 for a grand total of $110,000.

“Wow is all I can say right now,” said Brad Lackey, America’s First Motocross World Champion, and van fund project leader Brad Lackey. “They way people have responded to this challenge and all the other donations we received makes me very proud to be part of the motorcycle industry.”
The challenge was started by 7-Time National Motocross and Supercross Champion Bob Hannah at the 2009 Monsters of Motocross presented by Lucas Oil event last Halloween as he made the first $5,000 donation. A growing list of industry people meeting Hannah’s challenge was promoted each week in a series of advertisements donated by Cycle News. Each week, new names were added, including pioneers and new champions of the motocross market and other generous fans of Magoo.
“It’s awesome that so many fine folks and companies found a way to help make this happen for our friend Magoo,” said Hannah. “I look forward to seeing Danny at the races in his new rig. Maybe he’ll take me for a hot lap,” Hannah joked. “The van turned out great!” adds Lackey. “It is so cool, I think I need one of these rigs for myself.”
These funds will now be used to purchase and outfit a new special needs Sprinter van for Danny Magoo Chandler winner of all four motos of the 1982 Motocross and Trophee des Nations. The van will be outfitted with the newest living equipment and gear to allow Danny to be on the road teaching his riding and safety clinics around the country. The goal is to have the vehicle ready by the Hangtown Motocross National in late May.
Although Hannah’s challenge has been met, there is still funds needed to help pay for insurance, maintenance and other costs related to the vehicle. Also, ongoing signage and branding opportunities on the van will be available for interested companies who would like to associate their brand with Danny Magoo Chandler and his safety clinics.

ONE Industries Announces RIDERS F1RST Featuring David Bailey

The inaugural RIDERS F1RST event featuring David Bailey was held on Friday night to celebrate the Icon and introduce a new program by ONE Industries to provide help for injured riders.

This year’s event was held at Oakley world headquarters in southern California and brought together key figures in the industry as well as some of the most successful riders in the world. The evening celebrated David’s achievements and raised awareness and money for a good cause.

RIDERS F1RST is a charitable organization established by ONE Industries to provide support to athletes who have suffered career-ending injuries and are in need of substantial help.  With the help of David Bailey, the goal is to find these people and address their needs with the money raised by the program to make a big difference in their lives.

ONE Industries will produce a limited run of 300 complete sets of racewear including a helmet, jersey, pants, and gloves. The first ten sets of gear were offered to the highest bidders in a silent auction at Friday night’s event, with the winning bid on the #6 set hitting $10,000!

Neil Calvesbert, CEO of ONE Industries said “The event was a great starting point for RIDERS F1RST, we got the ball rolling with David and this is something we will continue to drive forward. We all know the big name riders who get hurt but there are so many more riders at all levels that need a helping hand.
