2010 RED BULL X-FIGHTERS WORLD TOUR: PUNCH YOUR TICKET AT THE FIRST-EVER RED BULL X-FIGHTERS RANKING SESSION
PUNCH YOUR TICKET AT THE FIRST-EVER RED BULL X-FIGHTERS RANKING SESSION
The search is on for undiscovered FMX talent to compete alongside the world’s best riders
At the Red Bull Compound
Santa Monica, Calif. (November 3, 2009) – The 2010 Red Bull X-Fighters World Tour will kick-start its fourth season in February at the Red Bull Compound, an exclusive, private training facility located deep in the mountains north of Los Angeles. For the first time in the history of Red Bull X-Fighters, riders will have to battle it out and earn their spots in the world’s most prestigious freestyle motocross series at the official Ranking Session.
Only the top four athletes from the 2009 season automatically qualified for the 2010 World Tour, leaving six spots up for grabs. The secured spots go to 2009 champion Nate Adams (USA), Robbie Maddison (AUS), Eigo Sato (JPN) and Mat Rebeaud (SUI). The Red Bull X-Fighters Ranking Session will be held at the Red Bull Compound between February 2 and February 10, where the greatest collection of the world’s best FMX athletes will battle it out for the additional six coveted spots on the World Tour.
“I'm excited about being invited to compete in the Red Bull X-Fighters championship again in 2010,” said Maddison. “X-Fighters has the best riders in the world throwing down the gnarliest runs in the most amazing locations around the world. I know the level will be higher again this year, so I'm busy learning fresh stuff for the new comp season.”
The world’s premier, most-progressive freestyle motocross series demands a high degree of skill, as indicated by the minimum requirement needed to qualify for the Ranking Session: “You’ll need to have at least one backflip combination in your portfolio,” said Tour Director Tes Sewell.
Another new milestone for the 2010 Red Bull X-Fighters World Tour will include two wildcard entries at each stop to complete the field of the tour, which will start in April and run to September at spectacular, iconic locations across the globe, which will be announced shortly.
Courage, talent and self-confidence are the key ingredients, as 17-year-old Levi Sherwood of New Zealand demonstrated last year. After defending champion Mat Rebeaud was sidelined with an injury, he discovered the talented young Kiwi rider, and Sherwood, now known as the “Rubber Kid,” paid Rebeaud back by knocking him out of the competition a few days later on his way to winning the 2009 season opener in Mexico City.

Stewart confirms Best Whip, Super X and Supermoto

Stewart confirms Best Whip, Super X and Supermoto
July 28 - Los Angeles, CA - Defending Supercross Champion James Stewart confirms that he will be competing in X Games 15 in Best Whip, Super X and Supermoto racing. “I’m pumped to have a chance to attend and compete,” says Stewart. “I have always wanted to do the X Games, but this is the first time that it has actually worked out contract and schedule wise.”
In fact just hours before showtime, Stewart and his team are hard at work in California dialing in his hybrid roadracer/dirtbike Yamaha YZ450F Supermoto race machine. “Obviously I’m at home on a supercross track but I’ve never raced Supermoto before so this is all new to me. I can’t wait though; it’ll be a blast!” As for Best Whip, “That’s in the bag,” he laughs.
“Honestly, I’m pleased that James is finally making his debut at X Games,” offered former AMA Supercross and Motocross champion Ricky Carmichael, an X Games Step UP Gold medalist in his own right and the winningest rider in motocross and supercross history. “X Games fans deserve to see the best of the best so it’s a natural that guys like Stewart, Josh Grant and Kevin Windham would be there. They benefit from tremendous exposure and being able to position themselves with the other elite athletes that X Games attracts.” Today the former motorcycle champion is pursuing a NASCAR career behind the wheel of the #4 KHI All-Stars Monster Energy Chevrolet Silverado.
Team Manager Larry Brooks says James will be racing the same Yamaha YZ450F that took him to this year’s Supercross season title. “But we haven’t decided yet if he will do the Best Whip on the 4-stroke or compete aboard a YZ250 2-stroke.”
The L&M San Manuel Band of Mission Indians-sponsored team is approaching X Games 15 with the same single-minded determination they used to capture the 2009 AMA Supercross championship. “Although James has never raced a Supermoto event before now, he was incredibly fast in our first test and he plans to be a major factor at the X Games,” says Brooks.
Keith McCarty, Yamaha Racing Division Manager, had this to say about his team: “We are very excited for people to see James Stewart competing in multiple classes at X Games. Its a great way for more of them to witness his talents. We also have Brandon Curry racing Supermoto and Nate Adams has added his name to the competition.” Josh Hill currently is injured.
“This is important to the entire team and James even had the X Games built specifically into his contract for this year. Let’s face it, in terms of media value alone for team sponsors like San Manuel, the X Games reaches even more fans than the Supercross and Motocross seasons together,” concludes Brooks. “A chance for James to show his amazing talents on live television before the world is invaluable. Our entire organization is really looking forward to it.”
The fun begins this Thursday as fans can see Stewart in the Best Whip competition starting at 5:15 at the Staples Center and in the Supermoto Final Saturday, August 1 starting at 1:30 at the Home Depot Center.

Troy Lee Designs Invades Summer X Games in LA
This week kicks off the fifteenth annual ESPN Summer X Games in Los Angeles. The action sports event has become one of the single biggest weekends of competition in the motorcycle industry and Troy Lee Designs will be there in force. With fourteen different athletes wearing TLD gear and/or helmets there will be no shortage of riders to cheer for.
In the Moto X Super X Event the stars of the Troy Lee Designs/ Lucas Oil/ PPG/ Honda Racing Team will be gunning for gold. Jake Moss (#42) has been shockingly fast at times throughout the season and the go-for-broke format of the X Games suits him well. If Jake Can get a good start and stay out of trouble you can bet he'll be at the front. His wingman, Chris Blose (#63), is finishing out the best season of his young career. Chris finished fifth in the west coast 250 supercross series and he rides the 450 just as well. Don't miss the Men's Moto X Super X Final at Home Depot Center on Saturday, August 1 at 4:30pm.
The King of Supercross, Jeremy McGrath (#2), will also be competing in the Moto X Racing discipline. Jeremy wears TLD helmets and is fresh off a silver medal last year.
He may be retired but it’s hard to count out a guy with 72 supercross wins.
MC will also get his Step-Up on at the Staples Center. Can he take down Carmichael and Renner? Tune in to find out.
If you are a Supermoto fan you'll have plenty of TLD riders to choose from. Two-time gold medalist and multi-time motocross and supercross champion Jeff Ward (#3x) will be trying to make it gold medal number three this year for the Troy Lee Designs/ Red Bull/ Honda Race Team. Wardy will be flanked by rookie Joey Pascarella (#25), Cassidy Anderson (#15) and team manager, David Pingree (#101), who is making a return to racing for this event. Other TLD Supermoto riders include Micky Dymond (#43), Josh Chisum (#10) and Gary Trachy #357). Supermoto Final takes place at Home Depot Center on Saturday, August 1 at 1:30pm.
Ronnie Renner has some gold medals under his belt and he'll be a threat to win more in both of the disciplines he competes in. The Step-Up Event was all Renner in 2008, until when Ricky Carmichael came in and stole the show. This time Renner wants to hand the GOAT a silver medal and walk away with another win. You can also catch Ronnie in the Best Whip Event; he'll be the guy upside down. Don't miss the Best Whip & Step-Up Finals at Staples Center on Thursday night.
The Women’s Moto X Super X Event features a rider new to the Troy Lee Designs family, Tarah Gieger. Tarah is the reigning champion from last year and she wants to back it up in 2009. She is fresh off a broken wrist from a GP race in Portugal but she’s gritty. Watch for the #68 Yamaha in her all-new TLD ladies gear. Also set to compete in the Women's Moto X Super X event are Sherri Cruse (#3) and X Games rookie Japanese rider Sayaka Kaneshiro (#678). Sayaka rides for Suzuki Japan, and is making her X Games debut.
Needless to say… there’s no shortage of Troy Lee Designs athletes in the 2009 Summer X Games.
Come out and join us for a weekend full of great competition.
PITS ARE OPEN to all spectators, TICKETS are $20
(or less depending on event and venue), and can be purchased from Ticketmaster.
For a complete list of air dates and times go to troyleedesigns.com/teamtld/xgames, and watch all the TLD riders make their bid for gold on August 1-2 in Los Angeles.

"I'm stoked about joining Hammerhead, a company with great style, cool parts, and the drive to get to the top," said McGrath. On how this deal came together, Jeremy said, "I have known John Clark at Hammerhead for quite a long time and he is the kind of guy who wants results to speak for themselves. Hammerhead makes great parts and I wouldn't get involved if I didn't believe that. I want to be with the best and Hammerhead is certainly that.
